All other doubles are played at right angles to the line and the total points on both ends are counted. All sides of the first double (the spinner) may be used one piece to each side and later one to each end. If the dots on the exposed ends total any multiple of five the player is awarded that number of points. ![]() Object of the game: Scoring points by laying the dominoes end to end (the touching ends must match: i.e., one’s touch one’s, two’s touch two’s, etc.). The remaining dominoes (the boneyard), if any, are left face down on the table to be drawn later if a player is unable to play from his hand.īegin Play: The player who drew the highest double or the highest domino plays first, playing any domino he wishes from his hand. Re-shuffle and then begin drawing the first hand.ĭrawing: Each player then draws seven dominoes for his hand. ![]() The player drawing the highest double or if no double, the highest domino plays first. The Shuffle: To begin the dominoes are placed face down and “shuffled.” Players draw one domino. If four are playing the game, it may be played as a partnership (the two players sitting opposite one another are partners). Players: Two, three or four may play the game of Dominoes. Straight Dominoes is the game usually played at old-fashioned domino halls in small towns throughout Texas and other southern states. Educational and easy to learn for children. One of the most popular of all domino games. ![]() In particular, note the Object of the Game section. I have included the rules of dominoes, with essential points highlighted, for the ignorant. I expect that next week she will turn up with some other ART approved game – possibly a series of random statements about ringing that have to be sorted on to large pieces of paper titled always/sometimes/never (no doubt green/yellow/red paper will be supplied for authenticity) except that all the vowels will be mysteriously missing and we shall have to guess what they say. It was suggested that she be made to wear the Smurf hat (a totally different story) and have to sit in the corner in disgrace. There are quite a few teachers with qualified status amongst us and we would not have made such a rookie error. We did try but there were some mutinous mutterings and some comments on the suitability of the supplier of the dominoes to call herself a teacher. Thus we were given about 30 little statements, all nicely cropped, but it was not clear what joined on to what because they had all been amputated. If you carefully cut each domino into two, there is nothing left to match. This afternoon at practice a teacher had brought along some ringing related dominoes, to give us something to do as we waited for our turn. However, it would appear that to an ART teacher the game of dominoes is a complex and challenging affair. I regularly play dominoes with 2 and 3 year olds and they have no problem in following the rules. You would think it was obvious – any fool can play dominoes.
